Max's First figures based

My son Max has started his first armies. ACW plastic figures which he is going to use unpainted. After some initial problems getting the figures to stick to the cardboard bases he has now got his first base finished.

The bases are simple with some scenic groundwork added.

He has also received some old Airfix figures thanks to Tim Hall from the WD3 Forum. So it's full steam ahead with basing.

I am going to use Don Featherstone rules for our first games.

  1. I hope we will see more of Max's troops and their first game...

  2. My first game was with Featherstone's rules 40+ years ago - a great starting point , the rules have stood the test of time !

  3. I've seen others use unpainted armies - just in their original plastic - and given suitably contrasting armies I reckon the games can be visually very pleasing. I like the way Max has arranged the figures, too: artistically giving an animated appearance to the stand. Units of 4 such stands will look just the business!

  4. When I was kid, I played with unpainted Airfix figures all the time. It never occurred to me to paint them.

  5. Hi

I too started with unpainted Airfix figures so I think it is great way to my son into gaming.

I started with Charge rather than Dons rules.

  6. Good choices. I'm going to teach my little cousin how to play with his figures and went out and bought him a copy of Featherstone! Simple is as simple does....
