Napoleonic Invasion of Britain

I was flicking through my old copies of Miniature Warfare magazine and came across an interesting 2 part article by the Bletchley Wargames Group covering a what if Napoleons Invasion of Britain.

I enjoyed re reading the article and I thought I would share. Apologies that I loaned the mag out and page 1 has been written on.

I remember this article and wish I'd kept the magazines which seem far better in those days (rose tinted glasses maybe ? )

I still have the magazines with both articles, I found it inspirational at the time. It has been in the back of my mind since I started my HH project to refight the battles and I probably have enough stuff to do it now. It might make a good subject for a mini retro campaign too!

Gosh I remember these articles greatly inspirational.
I wish I still had the mags. I'm always hopeful of finding someone who no longer wants their copies of Miniature Warfare

mark, of course there was also a similar series of 8 articles by Harold Gerry about the French Invasion of Britain in 1810, published in Wargamer's Newsletter in 1970 and 1971.

These are all posted up on Vintage Wargaming here:

Another famous and inspirational set of articles in Miniature Warfare was John Tunstill's ACW Campaign using a map of Ireland. I posted four of them a long time ago on Vintage Wargaming - you will find them here:

but it looks like I never got round to scanning and posting the rest so I should try to dig the magazines out, if there is an interest.

The folks on the toofalardies group are interested in this. Might see some Sharp Practice/General d'Armee replays

I know I am going to give it a go.

Cheers

I have managed to keep about 30 of them. They are dated by today's standards but the adverts and shop directory where useful in the pre internet days.

It would make an interesting retro campaign. Similiar in manys ways to Mauruce De Saxe plans to invade England in 1744.
