As I while away the last few days of work before I retire I realised I had few points left in the company rewards programme. Well I thought I better spend them so perused the online catalogue. Normally I end up getting stuff for the wife and kids so I had not great expectations that this would be any different.
Well I found something useful for me for once and got one of these.
The soldering point looks like I will be able to do some fine soldering and the variable heat control should allow me to apply a low heat without reducing figures to gloop.
I will try a few practise runs before I try any repairs on a Hinton Hunt figure.

Good luck, WM got me to try a soldering iron for the first time a few weeks ago to replace some missing plumes and it went better than expeected. Next is to try adding swords and bayonets.
Great bit if kit, especially with temperature control. I had cheap iron and melted the front leg on a horse while trying to repair the other front leg!.
I have a similar iron (mine is red so it is definitely faster) and even with my abysmal soldering skills I am impressed with the results.

Score! Nicely done sir. That is still one tool I am without. Every time I think I want to try it I chicken out in the end.
I've just put the same model on my Christmas list so hopefully I'll have one soon, although according to the website mine will be red so faster? It's the variable temperature that's tempted me as mine only has one setting which is super hot.
